OOCL Logistics Sponsors benchmark report: “The Supply Chain Visibility Roadmap, Moving from Vision to True Business Value”

OOCL Logistics, a world-class leader in process and technology driven logistics services, recently sponsored and participated in a research report with AberdeenGroup, a leading provider of fact-based research focused on the global technology-driven value chain.

The benchmark report titled, “The Supply Chain Visibility Roadmap, Moving from Vision to True Business Value” examined the benefits of supply chain visibility on the customer’s bottom line.

Corporate executives were polled and identified improved visibility in orders, inventory, and shipment status as top priorities, and fully 79% of large enterprises (over US$1 billion in revenue) said poor supply chain visibility was their top concern for managing global supply chain operations. Finally, inventory management and domestic transportation executives identified supply chain visibility as critical to their business performance.

Throughout their study, the AberdeenGroup identified how supply chain visibility products, like OOCL Logistics’ MyPilot, and the services offered under our Podium system suite, such as GarmentPodium, ReeferPodium, and e-Doc service, provide benefits to customers in cost, lead-time reductions, purchase order and vendor management facilitation, among other concerns.

The results were impressive: AberdeenGroup found that customers who used supply chain visibility products like OOCL Logistics’ were two and one-half times as likely to have reduced their inventory levels since 2004; three times as likely to have faster order-to-delivery times; and twice as likely to have an on-time delivery rate of 95% or higher (see table below).

“Most companies depend on a hodgepodge of spreadsheets, carrier tracking websites, and homegrown department-centric applications that drain staff productivity and prevent proactive management,” said Beth Enslow, Aberdeen SVP of enterprise research and the report’s author. “Visibility leaders, on the other hand, are deploying visibility software with cross-functional access, and they’re achieving better results across key metrics.”

The report featured case studies from retailers, manufacturers, and distributors, as well as a step-by-step guide on how OOCL Logisticss’ supply chain visibility products provide benefits to customers’ businesses.

To read or download the entire report, and to see how OOCL Logistics IT services are making advanced supply chain visibility attainable and cost effective today, please go to the AberdeenGroup report site by clicking here. The report will be available to all readers until January 26th, 2007.
