In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, OOCL Logistics has responded quickly to the challenges by contributing with its logistics expertise and operational skills providing support to customers in need along the supply chain.  Our recent successful initiative regarding supply chain support through assisting our customer’s air shipment delivery is as follows:

In early September, OOCL Logistics’ India team received a customer request to deliver cargo via airfreight from New Delhi, India to Munich and Frankfurt, Germany between September 14th to 21st. We started to communicate and negotiate with several airline companies and agents regarding the shipment planning and flight schedule.

However, we did not anticipate that the customer would revise the shipment schedule and request us to complete the delivery by September 18th, just 3 days before the prior deadline. In response to this urgent shipment request, the India team showed their professionalism reacting rapidly by collecting the multiple lots of shipper’s cargo in 41 Metric Tons separately starting from September 13. A follow up on the arrangement of the revised plan was completed accordingly.

Due to the change in shipment and transportation plan, we participated in several meetings working tirelessly with different parties such as factories, agents, airline companies, etc. during both in-office and non-office hours in order to facilitate effective communication that would ultimately ensure a smooth operation.

OOCL Logistics played a critical role in this project including the project planning, negotiation and coordination. Apart from freight management and delivery, we were also responsible for the handling of customs clearance. Nearly 5,000 cartons with 243 CBM in total were successfully delivered to Germany within 6 days. The customer expressed their gratitude to us regarding our emergency plan.

Furthermore, with the support of our in-house system MyPodium, a module-based International Supply Chain Management IT platform, end-to-end visibility across the supply chain can be ensured. Customers can easily keep on tracking and tracing the supply chain visibility milestones anytime in the platform.
